$6.5 million aid proposal will improve Milwaukee homeownership. But those efforts need to go beyond 2021.
Mayor Tom Barrett`s $6.5 million housing aid proposal will help make homeownership more accessible for lower income Milwaukeeans next year.

But those efforts, which include a focus on improving the city`s Black homeownership rate, need to be sustained beyond just 2021.

That`s according to Barrett`s development commissioner, Lafayette Crump, who spoke Tuesday to the Common Council`s Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee.

"We know it`s extremely important to find a way to do this in a sustainable way," Crump told committee members.
