Wisconsin home construction activity off to strong start in 2020

The state`s homebuilding industry is off to a good start in 2020, according to recent numbers reported by the Wisconsin Builders Association.

For the first quarter of 2020, single-housing permit numbers are up 20% when compared with the same period in 2019. Through the end of March, there were 1,941 permits pulled in Wisconsin, up from 1,613 permits in the first quarter of 2019.

“This 20 percent increase in new home permits is great news for the homebuilding industry and economy overall,” said Brad Boycks, executive director of the Wisconsin Builders Association in a statement. “While time will tell the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the fact that we had a strong start to the year is encouraging not only for construction companies, but for lenders, insurers, interior designers, retail, and all other industries that see benefits from new home construction.”
