New Job Center, New Opportunities for Inmates

With Wisconsin`s unemployment rate having been at or below 3 percent for a record nine straight months, the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is helping to prepare all available talent for inclusion in the workforce.

"Here in Wisconsin, our historically low unemployment requires us to recruit and train talent that is often overlooked," said Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch.

One such talent pool can be found at the new Oakhill Correctional Institution Job Center, where DWD is working with inmates to prepare them for work after release. The new job center comes from a strong partnership between DWD, the Department of Corrections (DOC), and the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin.   ...more
